Polar Bear Cub by lenslady Polar Bear Cub by lenslady
Toronto Zoo, Ontario, Canada.  This little fella, who is as yet unnamed, is our brand new Polar Bear cub, born on November 9th, 2013 which makes him 5 months old.  There is voting going on right now on their facebook page to pick a name.  He was one of 3 cubs born to Aurora.  Two of these cubs died very quickly after birth, and when he started to show difficulty, he was immediately wisked into the Intensive Care Unit of the Zoo's Animal Health Unit.  With around the clock care he has blossomed into a wonderful little guy, very happy and content.  He was a difficult little one to photograph due to the varied lighting and the fact that he just wouldn't stop running around.  He was absolutely delightful to watch.

Oh my gosh! He's so freaking cute! He's bigger now (and muddier ) He can't avoid those mud holes.

Great composition and I like that smoky effect in the background. It looks like he's about to go on an adventure ;)

Hahahaha!  Thanks soooo much!  He is adorable.  I saw him about 1 1/2 mo ago just when we first had warm weather, and he was very muddy then too!  Just like a little kid playing in the mud!  lol  In the picture I wanted to get rid of that horrible fence and the building behind it.  It just looked ugly in the picture.  I used Picasa 3 and the "retouch" feature they have.  I was very impressed with what it did and how the end product looked.  It's a free site if you want to download it.  This was a difficult picture to get though.  I'd already been there for about an hour trying to figure out the exposure and focus.  I was in the dark shooting into bright light so it took a while to figure it out. lol  If I recall, it was horribly cold out as well and there were only a couple of other people there.  I froze my little buns and fingers off!!!!
